The Nature Garden is named after Culla Uys, who was the Mayor of Heidelberg and originally established the Garden.
Historically, it was a very popular venue that attracted many visitors. Motorists used to pack a picnic and come to enjoy their lunch in the garden before continuing their journey on the N2.
In 2018, a group of local Heidelberg residents decided to revive the Nature Garden. The Culla Uys Nature Garden officially opened on 2 October 2019.
There are a lot of paths to explore in this tranquil nature garden filled with surprises, nooks and crannies.
On one of the paths, taking a left at the second wood bridge takes you all the way down to the river.
Eventually it will become a circular route back to the entrance of the garden, but this part of the route is still under construction.
